IMAGE GUIDE

How to Resize an Image Without Distortion

Keep the aspect ratio locked and change only width or height. Downscaling is usually safe; enlargement interpolates existing pixels and cannot create real detail that was not in the source.

Preserve aspect ratio

Aspect ratio is the relationship between width and height. Locking it lets the tool calculate the second dimension automatically, preventing stretched or squashed subjects.

Downscaling and enlargement

Downscaling removes pixel information and is usually visually subtle. Enlargement interpolates pixels and becomes softer as the scale increases.

Choose an output format

Use PNG or WebP for transparent assets and JPG or WebP for photos. Keep an uncompressed or lightly compressed original if you expect to edit the image repeatedly.
